uhhuh’s first piece, The White Label of The Son, The Lover, The Holy Spin, united the talents of Sarah and Jon with Janis Claxton, internationally renowned dancer, teacher and choreographer. The result was a thought provoking, innovative piece of dance theatre, which was very well received when performed for the first time in February 2006.
In this piece we look at deconstructing the patriarchy of institutionalised religion and explore the consequent manipulation of the masculine and feminine. The piece reflects how this manipulation is still evident in how we experience ourselves and how we relate to each other. We use the contemporary characters of Veronica (uptight and outta sight), Jimmy (Mr Ego) and the seminal characters of Mary Magdalene and Jesus to explore these themes in a "funny, moving and poignant" way.
